Betsy and I shared a love for music and we were fortunate enough to love the same music. The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, CSNY, Joni, She said for years how happy she was to have lived at a time when the best music was created. Between February 1st and March 31st, Betsy listened to these songs again and again and again. They may have served as an anchor for her. There are some that she listened to on a loop, hearing the same 3 songs for days. Day and night. Couldn’t have asked for a better soundtrack. -Jim

The Introduction: My cousin in New York, Leonard Lehrman, is a classical composer and his wife, Helene Spierman, is a classical singer. Having gotten my updates through the months of Betsy’s decline, Leonard was moved to pull out certain lines and write some music to them. So Betsy has the honor of having this music written for her. What’s here at this link is Leonard and me introducing the cycle, and a second link to hear and watch Helene sing and Leonard play piano to this 12 minute piece.
